China’s women left it later than their men but reached the same place, rallying from 2–1 down to beat Japan in the women’s final of the 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals at OVO Arena Wembley on 10 May. The win completed a China team double in London and extended their hold on the Marcel Corbillon Cup.
World No. 1 Sun Yingsha headed a lineup that also leaned on Wang Manyu and Chen Xingtong. China entered London with the deepest squad in the draw — the world’s top four women and five of the top eight — but the final still went the distance after Japan struck first to lead 2–1.
Depth wins the long matches
It was not a procession. China had been stunned by Korea Republic in the group stage on Day 5, the result that pushed the championships into Wembley’s main arena for the knockout rounds. In the final, the rally from a tie down underlined the same theme as the men’s competition: the gap at the top is real, but it is no longer a guarantee on any given afternoon.
